Treasure Ship
A mosaic of some 800 digital images shows the upright paddle wheels (top and bottom) and scattered debris of the S.S. Republic 1,700 feet (500 meters) below the surface. The excavation crew views the wreck through the cameras of Zeus, a remotely operated vehicle whose images can pinpoint objects smaller than a thimble.

Use the navigation tools to locate parts of the wreckage. Just to the right and center of the paddle wheels, zoom in for a look at a cargo of bottles. The ship's rudder lies at the far right tip. The rusted boiler rests opposite the paddle wheels, almost aligned with the bottles. Further left, a bright patch of sand reveals bolts of blue fabric.
