National Geographic Magazine Online will take home two Webby Awards this year—for best online magazine and for best use of photography (Your Shot.) The 2008 award winners were announced today in New York by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.

NGM.com also won the People's Voice award in the magazine category.

The Webby nods follow awards given in March by Pictures of the Year International: first place for best use of multimedia overall and second place for multimedia feature story for the video Gorilla Massacre.

In February, the Magazine Publishers of America awarded first-, second-, and third-place honors for three features on NGM's recently redesigned Web site. NGM.com won first place for best Web-only tool, based on the Your Shot Jigsaw Puzzle Generator. The video Gorilla Massacre took second place for best standalone video, and Your Shot, featuring a dozen new photos chosen daily from reader submissions, won third place for best online community.

Earlier this week, National Geographic magazine took home three National Magazine Awards. NGM was awarded the top honor— general excellence in a publication with a circulation over two million, as well as the awards for reporting and photojournalism.
