New Orleans: Treme
Treme isn't just the name of the new HBO series about post-Katrina New Orleans. It's a real neighborhood in the city—and one that is going through changes. Treme (pronounced to rhyme with "away") is the oldest African-American neighborhood in the United States, dating back to the late 18th century. Today, it is undergoing urban renewal and gentrification. Here are some of the spots that you may encounter on the TV show—as well as some other Treme landmarks worth seeing if you pay a visit.
