Max Lowe reports from Base Camp:
In a surprise turn of events, Conrad Anker headed for the summit of Everest this morning without oxygen. He reached the top at 10:10 a.m. (Nepal time), and is now safely back at Camp 2 with Kris, Hilaree, and Sam. This was Conrad’s first summit on the Southeast Ridge route. His other two Everest summits were up the North Face.
Mark, Emily, and the Sherpas—Panuru, Danuru, and Jangbu—all returned to Base Camp this morning. They are here having dinner with us safely. The whole team should be back here tomorrow morning.
