Cory Richards, a North Face Team athlete, was Conrad Anker’s original partner for the West Ridge leg of this expedition. On April 28, Richards was evacuated from Mount Everest after suffering respiratory distress. Tests were inconclusive regarding the cause of his breathing problem and he is now healthy, but it was decided he would not continue with the expedition.

Expedition Team

Additional climbers taking the Southeast Ridge route include a team of North Face athletes.
The scientific portion of this expedition includes geologists from Montana State University,
an instructor from the National Outdoor Leadership School, and specialists from the Mayo Clinic.
