A monster storm in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, produced this piece of hail. “A five-inch hailstone falling at more than 100 mph means certain death if it hits your head,” says storm researcher Tim Samaras (looking skyward). After a hailstone smashed their truck’s windshield, photographer Carsten Peter and Samaras fled.
