The Unbeatable Body: Pushing the Limit

Topping a lung-busting hill, female runners stream past a villager carrying water near Kenya’s Rift Valley. A red-hatted coach on the roadside notes their progress. Runners in the camp at Iten log 80 miles (129 kilometers) a week. Says director Colm O’Connell, “When runners go into the countryside, kids often come out of nowhere and tag along for a few miles. They get to see that these world-beaters are human and sweat just like they do.”
