Funny First-take
Photograph by Nick Nichols

Delighted by the sound of their own voices, Pygmies listen to songs recorded by expedition member Louis Sarno. The Megatransect will document both the biology and cultures of central Africa.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT OR COMMENTS:

Pygmies seem to love their tradition of music and dance. This tradition tends to break down when “progress” via logging roads brings in alcohol. The kids in this shot were not at all frightened by the Leica or by my body language which supports my philosophy: Go softly and carry a little camera.
