Swinging High
Photograph by Maggie Steber

With eyes on the sky a young boy from Pharping takes a turn in a ceremonial tree swing during the harvest celebration of Dasain, Nepal’s largest festival, which is often compared to Christmas in the West. Entire villages pitch in to buy rope for the swings—known as pings—which the children ride until the ropes give out.
