A sea of snow glows at sundown behind a tree-lined polar bear day den—where a mother and cubs recently rested during their journey to the sea ice. Manitoba’s Wapusk National Park, a name meaning “white bear” in the Cree language, protects one of the largest known polar bear denning areas.
