Keeping on Track

Hunters stalking an antelope take a break on four-wheel-drive tracks that cut across scrubland in northeastern Namibia. The Nyae Nyae Conservancy, created in 1998, puts the surrounding territory under the management of indigenous people. The government hopes they will continue to hunt and gather while also earning money from tourists, who drive into the desert for a taste of Bushman life.
