Warmed by the company of his son, Kaainoa, octopus fisherman Manny Fernandez cant help letting his mind drift. A few weeks earlier, while mourning the loss of his wife to cancer, Manny went fishing outside the reef. He heard yelling, and in the high swells he spied two men waving. It was a father and his adult son clutching a cooler. Their boat had sunk 20 hours earlier, and now they were almost ready to give up. Fernandez pulled the men aboard his boat and saved their lives. I figure that doing something like that will get me to heaven to see my wife, he said.
