What in Blazes?

East of Madrid, Spain, in a poor Gypsy settlement called Valdemingómez, two boys check out a fire set by local scrap merchants. After burning the plastic sheathing off a tangle of used copper wires, the merchants sell the metal to earn a few pesetas. Forced to eke out a living at societys margins, most European Gypsies still duel the twin devils of discrimination and poverty.
