Lady’s slipper orchids (Cypripedium franchetii) add splashes of crimson to the forest in northern Yunnan Province. The Hengduan Mountains are a botanist’s delight. Among the stands of oaks, maples, and bamboos grow such plants as lilacs, roses, primroses, rhododendrons, and a favorite of gardeners, the regal lily. |
