Bennie Orvis of Geddes, South Dakota, proudly displays the 28-inch (71.12-centimeter), six-and-one-eighth-pound (2.7-kilogram) walleye he landed from the banks of Lake Francis Case. He and his brother, Nathan, had hit the lake around twilight and fished all night. They bite pretty good about three or four oclock in the morning, says Bennie, who fishes twice a week through the summer. Though not a record catch for the lake, this one was a record for Bennie, who had it mounted. Im still debating where I want to put it, he says.
