Do Not Disturb
Photograph by Randy Olson

Getting some well-deserved down time, students Jason Knouft, at right, and Waldyke Prince endured long hours, suffocating humidity, and punishing heat while chasing fish. “I now know how a dog feels when you leave it in a parked car with the windows up during the summer,” says Jason, now a post-doctoral researcher who insists his whole Guyanan adventure was great fun. “I remember sitting on a sandbar one night fishing for stingrays in the dark, thinking, wow . . . how did I get here? I just felt really lucky.”
