Morning rush hour hustles on the Armitage Avenue train platform in Lincoln Park where a gourmet-coffee-and-cell-phone crowd prepares to board. The 110-year-old train system channels its youthful clientele into downtown Chicago in less than 15 minutes. "The ride has improved—most of the cars are air-conditioned now," says one rider, "and the heat sometimes works in the winter."
