It's a bit of suburbia in the city...and then there's the train. Chicago's L seems to hover precariously above the Johnson's backyard on West Altgeld, but the rattle and clank of the cars doesn't faze Liam, at right, or his sister, Lally. "They'll wave at the train, and the conductor will honk back," says their father Greg Johnson. Why live within spitting distance of the tracks? "How many neighborhoods do you know where you can walk to the beach, the zoo, the theater, a major ballpark, and the best transportation for getting downtown?" he says.
