Nuclear Waste Zoom In 1

People of Conviction
Photograph by Peter Essick

Robin Ray is arrested during a Good Friday vigil at the southern boundary of the Nevada Test Site, where America’s nuclear weapons were once detonated underground. Her fellow protesters loft a canopy listing the names of other antinuclear supporters from the U.S. and elsewhere who were unable to attend. Thousands of demonstrators have been arrested during hundreds of protests held here over the past two decades.
