Before and After Photograph by Ira Block
After a soak in acid and an electrochemical treatment in a conservation lab, corroded pewter spoons come out remarkably close to their original appearance. The top utensil is untreated, the bottom a finished product. Pewterware was a common trade item on board the slave ship Henrietta Marie; 121 spoons have been recovered so far from the wreck site, some with filigree intact. |
