For weeks after the disaster, Canal Street, TriBeCa’s bustling northern border, was a checkpoint into Lower Manhattan. Residents and workers weren’t allowed in without the proper papers to show their business farther south. But since the restrictions were lifted, the crowds, here at Canal and Broadway, have returned.
