Vischer's painting of a dashing tribal warrior betrayed his admiration for the power and spirit of a fine horse. He defied the odds and successfully rode a horse rather than a camel across the Sahara. In honor of that feat, Hare called his riding camel Pasha, the name of Vischer's steed.
