Reliving Old Memories Courtesy John F. Kennedy Library
Following John F. Kennedy's election as President, he met in the oval office with a key player in the PT 109 saga, Arthur Reginald Evans. Evans, a coastwatcher and Lieutenant in the Australian Navy, witnessed a fireball in Blackett Strait about the time of the nighttime collision between Kennedy's boat and the Japanese destroyer. He became instrumental in the rescue of Kennedy and his men. |
