Birthday Bash
Photograph by Kenneth Garrett

A showcase for one of the world's most spectacular collections of antiquities, the Egyptian Museum in Cairo is celebrating its centennial by giving the public a peek inside its vast basement. Artifacts long buried in storerooms around the country and overlooked among the embarrassment of riches in the museum's galleries and vaults have been rediscovered and readied for display, and now share the spotlight.
