Driven by patriotism, farmer Mark Trupp visited his barley field after September 11, 2001, and turned the soil into a statement. Although Driggs is renowned for its stout seed potatoes, some local farmers plant less expensive, low-maintenance cereals in fields like these to the west of town. But many local farmers have cashed in on rising property values. "Houses grow better than most crops on this soil," says Mayor Louis Christensen. |
