A rifleman's-eye view through a firing window in Bonifacio's cliff-top citadel frames a lighthouse in the town's harbor. Through the centuries numerous forts were built by foreign rulers who, having successfully invaded the island, erected defensive strongholds to protect themselves against future intruders.
