Over the last 50 years, different expeditions have pioneered 15 different paths to the top of the world's highest peak. Beginning with Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay in 1953, 1,200 men and women from 63 nations have reached the summit, and nearly 200 people have died in the attempt.
