It's a Really Big Show
Photograph by Dave Yoder

When the performers in the 2002 Peru Amateur Circus gathered together for photographer Dave Yoder, they barely fit in his viewfinder. More than 200 Miami County, Indiana, youngsters—ages 7 to 21—train through spring and summer to put on an authentic three-ring circus each July, with acts ranging from tumbling to trapeze. Some 2,000 volunteers build equipment, sew costumes, make snow cones, and sell tickets for this 43-year-old small-town tradition.
