The Real Deal

Almost anyone can become a junior clown or join the beginners' tumbling act. Riskier stunts, like trapeze or walking a wire, require demanding tryouts and long hours of practice. "Some kids try out for the really tough acts for years before they make it," says head trainer Bill Anderson. "But we don't get many kids who just give up on being in the circus."
