Passing Fancy
Photograph by William Albert Allard
Equipped with a vintage aviator's hood, une cycliste flies down a centuries-old street in the Jewish quarter. Since the Marais's mazelike, narrow roads offer little parking, bicycles provide practical mobility and an opportunity for style. "The women of Paris all have a touch, a flair," says photographer William Albert Allard. In the Marais "they expect to be looked at, and they would be disappointed if they weren't."
