Success Story
Photograph by Roshanak

Documenting her rapidly changing world, Shakeba goes after a story with the same confidence that landed her a job as a journalist. She was the first woman asking for a job at the door of Radio Television Afghanistan (RTA) after the defeat of the Taliban. She was only 17, but RTA took her on as a presenter for Donya Atfal, a children's daily program. Shakeba spent one year at AÏNA taking broadcast journalism courses, and is now  a professional camerawoman. As a representative of the students who worked on an AÏNA-produced movie about Afghanistan, Shakeba was one of two Afghan women invited to Paris in March 2003 for a women's film festival, Films de Femmes à Créteuil.
