Laughing in the Rain
Photograph by David McLain

Student athletes Unique Woods, left, and Arthur Weaver share an umbrella during a rain delay at a spring track meet. The importance of physical fitness is emphasized at the Alabama School for the Blind, where most kids participate in at least one sport. Unique is a school cheerleader when she's not running track, and Arthur—whose mother, brother, and three sisters attended the school too—is a star wrestler. "He's an amazing athlete," says coach Jennifer Hammock.
