Weekend Casualties

Every Friday night a steady stream of injured and wounded are wheeled into the emergency room of Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto. Many patients have been shot or stabbed in robberies, or beaten in drunken brawls. Photographer Tomasz Tomaszewski said the floor was covered in blood when he visited: "It was like photographing a slaughterhouse."
