The New Propaganda?
Photograph by Tino Soriano

Billboards blaring marketing slogans—like Coca-Cola's "It's the right time to taste the right drink"—have long since replaced communist propaganda in Slovakia's capital, Bratislava. Coke first appeared in Slovakia (then part of Czechoslovakia) in 1945 when U.S. troops introduced it to the locals. In 1990, Coke began production in Slovakia. Today, the company is the largest foreign investor in the nation's food and beverage industry.
