Bending to his responsibility, 14-year-old Hussein Ali opens the vents of a kiln at an Iraqi brick factory where he has worked since he was nine. Like Ali, some 25 percent (and in some cities up to 80 percent) of children in Iraq drop out of school before reaching grade five, many of them put to work to help support their families.
