A ring of mountains ensures the privacy and isolation of a Pashtun village in northern Pakistan near the Afghan border. Investigators believe that Osama bin Laden and his supporters may have hidden out in villages like this as they fled in December 2001 from U.S. bombing raids on the al Qaeda base in the Tora Bora mountains.
