Ansel Adams photographed Half Dome, at left, numerous times throughout his career, declaring it "the grandest rock form in the world." Naturalist John Muir agreed, calling Half Dome "the noblest rock in the Sierra." No wonder almost four million tourists visit Yosemite National Park each year.
