Five Questions for Otto Photograph by Maria Stenzel
Q: Why do you live at East Wind? A: I was never an idealist. I just like to work. Q: What have you given up by living here? A: I don't do chutney anymore. Q: What if East Wind won the lottery and you all were suddenly filthy rich? A: It would destroy the community. A lack of money provides the discipline to share. Q: What do you want? A: Thoreau once wrote that a person is rich in proportion to those things he can leave alone. Q: If you were to give East Wind a new name, what might it be? A: I hope it wouldn't be the Doldrums.
