She's not his daughter—but that doesn't much matter at East Wind, which often feels like one big extended family. The creation of a close-knit, mutually supportive, intentional community like East Wind is often rooted in noble visions of a better future or by a desire to experiment with accepted social or sexual norms, writes Kathleen Kinkade, a member of East Wind's first board of directors. "But commonest of all is the personal dream, the dream of no longer being lonely."
