Safety in Circles Photograph by George Steinmetz
On northern Kenya's dry plains, nomadic Rendille herders live in settlements called gobs, where valuable livestock is protected by circular pens made of thorn bushes surrounded by the herders' homes. In places where water and green pastures are scarce, pastoralists must remain mobile to survive.
