"With the help of this medication, I am going to live a long life," says Bavuyise Mbebe, who prepares his first dose of ARV drugs. Bavuyise, 31, volunteers at one of the clinics in Lusikisiki, encouraging people to get tested for HIV. "It is important to teach our community that learning your HIV status does not mean you are going to die now. It can actually help you live longer," he says. About a thousand residents now get tested each month.
