Naval officers lay a wreath at the spot where Nelson fell on Victory's deck. Venerated each year on the battle's anniversary, Nelson retains heroic stature among the British for his legendary military feats and for giving his life in defense of the country. "The virtues of bravery, dedication to duty, loyalty, and self-sacrifice underpinned the British fleet's victory at Trafalgar and are still as important in the Royal Navy today," says Frank Nowosielski, Victory's commanding officer.
