Once a year three generations of Ishigakis gather at the family tomb, where they eat, play music, and dance to honor ancestral spirits. Such family bonds may contribute to human longevity in Okinawa, Japan, as well as in Sardinia, Italy, and Loma Linda, California—three disparate spots where the locals are renowned for living long, healthy lives.
