Soggy, Boggy, Beautiful Wapusk
|
Part of Canada's Hudson Bay–James Bay lowlands, Wapusk's 2.8 million acres (1.1 million hectares) encompass coastal marsh, spruce forest, tidal flats, and peatlands. Since the last continental glacier retreated some 8,000 years ago, the land has been springing upward. This is some of the youngest—and soggiest—terrain in Canada.
