Russia's Bears
FEBRUARY 2006
|
Trophy in the Snow Photograph by Steve Winter
This bear skin will adorn the St. Petersburg home of the Russian who shot it. About 200 hunters, including many foreigners, legally hunt bears each year in Kamchatka, guided by some two dozen state-approved outfitters. Hunters pay as much as $10,000 for the chance to shoot a bear in the wild.
