Dog Duty

Duke, Sweetpea, Piglet, Junior, Sancho, Symba, and Sam (left to right) take Julia Frink for a walk in the Marina district. "Many people from out of town say it's cruel to have a dog in the city, but I disagree," says Frink, who has been a full-time dog walker here for nearly seven years. "Every dog I care for is well-socialized, stimulated, and gets lots of exercise." On her daily rounds, Frink sees a common reaction from passersby. "I can see people's body language relax and they start smiling," she says. "Dogs just make people happy. I love dogs more now than when I started, if that's possible."
