A Royal Tradition Photograph by Catherine Karnow
Officers training at Dartmouth's Britannia Royal Naval College race down an 85-yard-long (77-meter-long) track, pulling a field gun weighing more than a ton, in a competition run every year since 1907. Prince Charles has a strong tie to the college—he trained here as a young Royal Navy officer. As Duke of Cornwall, he controls mooring rights for vessels in the River Dart.
