Myanmar's Lifeline
|
The Irrawaddy River flows from its origins in the snow-covered peaks of the Himalaya below Tibet and surges through jungle-covered highlands to emerge in the sun-scorched plains of central Myanmar. There its waters continue to the ocean and after 1,300 miles (2,100 kilometers), release at last into the Andaman Sea.
