Precious additions such as lapis lazuli, turquoise, and mother of pearl probably once brightened the eyes, earrings, and necklace of a ceramic figure found with the female mummy. They had fallen off or been removed before the piece was laid in her grave, though, exposing patches of black glue. Was this a family heirloom? A beloved personal object? We may never know for sure, but similar vessels have been found in other burials.
