Sated from a morning feast, a leopard seal rests on a piece of freshly calved glacier ice in Lemaire Channel. I had arrived in Antarctica nervous, well aware of the animal's fierce reputation. I left humbled, knowing I had experienced a powerful and rare meeting in the sea.
